Dr. Shakira Durham is a credentialed school psychologist and a licensed educational psychologist with over 20 years of experience working with children as a school counselor, clinical therapist, school psychologist, school administrator, and social worker. She has worked with children in a variety of settings including public and private schools, charter schools, foster care agencies, and community counseling settings.
Dr. Durham specializes in the assessment of children with learning disabilities, autism, and social-emotional difficulties. She is especially interested in the areas of: dyslexia and reading disabilities, multicultural assessment issues, and parent advocacy. She possess a Doctorate in Education in Educational Administration and Leadership. Dr. Durham also has an Education Specialist degree with authorizations in school psychology and school counseling. She holds a Pupil Personnel Services credential in school psychology and school counseling credential from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Additionally, she has a Master of Science degree in Marital and Family Therapy. Dr. Durham seeks to demystify and simplify the special education assessment process.
